CElebrate America!
"Celebrate America" was conceived by Miss D'Autilia as a tribute to American composers, musicians, and performers. New
works encompassing diverse forms of dance were created by PDC~CCB staff and choreographers, culminating with a tribute
to George Balanchine and John Phillip Sousa. With inspiration drawn from Balanchine's ballet "Stars and Stripes" and the
music of Sousa, Miss D'Autilia created a mini-ballet which she named "Red, White, and Blue". When asked about this piece,
Miss D'Autilia said 'Balanchine is one of the greatest choreographers of our time, Sousa, is, without a doubt the master of the
patriotic march. With such genius as inspiration, "Red, White and Blue" was a joy to choreograph, and is my humble way of
expressing pride in our country through the magic of dance".
